Emmanuel Pacheco-Pineda was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Atlantic City police said.
On Thursday, June 1, at 8:07 a.m., city police responded to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Ventnor Avenue for an assault.
Police found a woman, 26, suffering from stab wounds, they said.
Officer Thomas Gilardi began to render aid to the victim before the arrival of medical personnel.
The suspect, Pacheco-Pineda, emerged from the building and was taken into custody without incident by Officers Scott Sendrick and Jonathan Walsh, police said.
Officers recovered the weapon used in the stabbing in the building, they said.
Three children who were present were evaluated by medical personnel and released into the custody of a family member, police said.
The victim was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, they said.
Pacheco-Pineda was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
